Facilities

OBYC built a new clubhouse in 2007 with a new kitchen and restroom facilities. A telephone is available for making calls within the continental United States.

Private use of the clubhouse is limited to members and their guests. Wedding receptions are restricted to those in which the bride or groom is a relative of a member. Members wishing to use the facilities for private functions must submit a request form as required in the club’s rules.

Our docking facilities have 9 feet of water at low tide, with room for dinghy tie-up. Please tie up dinghies on the inside of the south float. Boats should not tie up at the main float that is used for unloading and fueling.

Water is available at the float. However, due to well limits, please conserve water. Water use in drought conditions may be restricted. Trash disposal is in the dumpster located to the right of the front porch. Heads are available for use via the south entrance of the Clubhouse; there are no shower facilities available.

Gasoline is sold to members only. Gas and Diesel may be obtained at Cook’s Lobster House dock, located not far from OBYC. The nearest market is Bailey Island General Store (BIGS), approximately 3 miles away. The closest restaurants are the Salt Cod Café (located in the red building just before the Cribstone Bridge), Morse’s Cribstone Grill (located on left just over the bridge), and Cook’s Lobster House (go across Cribstone Bridge, up the hill a bit, and take a right on to Garrison Cove Road to the end).

OBYC does not rent moorings. However, several guest moorings are available on a first-come, first-served basis for use by visiting yachts of no more than 40′, with a limit of two nights. A donation of $25 per night is suggested and allows for use of the facilities during your visit. It may be deposited in slotted area in the kiosk at the top of the ramp.

OBYC makes no representation as to the safety or adequacy of its facilities for the intended use of visitors nor does it assume the care, custody or control of vessels while on moorings or at its dock. Neither OBYC nor any of its directors, officers, members or employees shall be liable to the owner or crew of the vessel or anyone claiming under such owner for any damage to property or persons on or near OBYC premises or anchorage. Use of OBYC moorings or facilities acknowledges that the vessel owner releases OBYC, its directors, officers, members and employees from all claims and liabilities to any such damage or injury.
