Guest speaker Gary Lawless, co-owner of the Gulf of Maine Bookstore in Brunswick, will be presenting “Edna St. Vincent Millay and Ragged Island”. Come learn about Maine’s Pulitzer Prize winner of Poetry in 1923 and what an eccentric person she was! Besides being a notable poetess, Ms Millay was a playwright, wrote prose and spoke out as an early feminism activist. She and her husband owned Ragged Island from 1933 until her death in 1950 as a summer retreat. Join us to hear more about this influential woman of her time!
